Pull Up Bars

Pull-up bars are not specialized equipment, they are essentially bars that you can grasp and pull yourself up to. The purpose of this exercise is to strengthen the muscles in your arms, especially your biceps.

Despite the simplicity, there are many forms or exercise pull up bars. The most common use is having a home pull up bar. These are usually either portable pull up bars, pull up bar doorways or homemade pull up bars.

Portable pull up bars are great because you can take them with you anywhere. They can be mounted on walls, doors easily and give you the simplicity of this exercise anywhere.

Doorway pull up bars are very common in households. They take up very little space and can be attached to the door frame. You can then perform your exercises on this pull up/chin up bar. I would also put wall mounted pull up bars into this category. While door mounted bars usually are vertical, wall mounted ones extend a bit from the wall so you have space to pull yourself up. Because of this, they are mostly bigger than door mounted ones.

Alternatively you could be wondering how to build a pull-up bar. Well building a pull up bar is not that difficult, so you may as well try. To build your own pull up bar I would suggest buying steel tubes and either soldering them together if you can, or using strong screws to hold them firmly. They you just have to mount it on a wall and off you go.

There are numerous sports stores to buy pull up bars, they are not usually too costly. I wouldn’t make a recommendation on the brand because we are essentially talking about a length or steel pipe. 42 inch pull up bars are usually the longest they will go, due to weight restraints, but that should be more than enough for anyone. I urge you to try out pull up bars because they are a cheap, but very effective form of exercise, allowing you to watch favorite program, while working towards a slender, fit you.
